♟️socially, we agree
Ang kahirapan is not just an economic condition; it’s also a social shared belief ❇️ that can influence how individuals view themselves and how they are viewed by others.📸
👤Social identities — kung mahirap, may kaya, o mayaman ka — affect the sense of belonging, self-esteem, and self-worth ng isang tao.
📉Poverty can also create a distinct social identity, where individuals may manifest negative stereotypes and stigmas associated with being less privileged.
One
👺Identity trap
🥀 Poverty and identity are deeply intertwined. Poverty can shape an individual’s identity that can hinder their ability to improve their economic situation.
Siguro dahil inalipin tayo sa sarili nating bansa for hundreds of years, we lost our identity that was key to our greatness.🥺
Until now, akala natin hindi tayo magaling. Hindi tayo world-class. Wala tayong maipagmamalaki.
💔The remnants of our painful, traumatic past still linger.
Because we don’t know our history, our story, we don’t know our real identity. If we don’t know who we are, we don’t know what we are capable of.🧘♀️
⛓️Poor identity breeds poverty.
Two
🤼Competition trap
We thought our fellow Filipinos are the enemies. We rarely collaborate. We fight almost always. We don’t look at a common future. Laging may pinatutunayan. 😤Laging may kalaban. Laging may nanlalamang. Laging may naiiwan at nasasaktan.
🥇For many years, our schools inadvertently developed us as competitors instead of collaborators.
For many years, we thought success means “beating everybody in the room.” Unless you do, you won’t amount to something.
🥋Fast forward. Nagtapos. Nag-trabaho. Ano’ng nangyari sa trabaho? Lahat kinalaban. Laging may gustong patunayan. Yung iba, seemingly nag-succeed. Yung nga lang, sobrang pagod. Yung iba naman, nag-give up na lang.
🏜️Nawala yung true spirit ng success: It takes a village to raise a child. Nagkanya-kanya. Sa akin ito, sa iyo yan. Ending? magkaka-away tayo kahit pare-pareho naman tayong Pilipino.
⛓️Competition fuels poverty.
Three
🛖Bahay-kubo trap
The smallness of thinking. Oh, wow! We were made to sing “Bahay-kubo, kahit munti…” without realizing the impact it has on us. It allowed us to think small, makunteto sa maliit, huwag nang mangarap.
❌Game over. Before the game even begins.
Sa kanta, puro gulay. Bakit walang fruits? May kamatis pala. Nag-iisang prutas, technically.
👎Bakit hindi mangga, avocado, atis, at dragon fruit? Kase maliit lang ang lupain. Wag mangarap ng malaking ektarya. Small time. Small thinker. Small dreamer.
🐶We grow our children to be servants; not leaders. We become a nation of followers instead of a country of great leaders.
No wonder we are the number one human resources exporter in the world. Yung best natin, ipinapadala sa abroad. 🧠Brain drain. Talent shortage.
😭Yung best natin, second-class citizens lang in other countries.
We don’t think abundance. We don’t think big. We think scarcity. We don’t plan to have more so we can give more. We plan to have enough and when we fall short?
🫣Manghihingi. Mangungutang. Mamumulubi.
Yung mababang self-esteem, mas lalo pang bumaba. Then, we start blaming the world for its harshness.
🌱Do you remember the plant was last mentioned in the Bahay-kubo song? Correct. Linga! Sesame seeds.
⛓️Smallness of thinking leads to poverty.
The Antidote.
We’ve got solution.
Just like you, frustrated din kami. We channeled our dismay into this movement — one which, we believe, can break the chain of poverty.
🤗🥹🫠 We’re glad you asked
